Virus - a segment of self-replicating code planted illegally in a computer program, often to damage or shut down a system or network.

Malware - software intended to damage a computer, mobile device, computer system, or computer network, or to take partial control over its operation.

If you think you may have a virus or malware, your computer may show some signs of being infected. Your computer may experience 1 or more of the following signs.

  • You may notice that your browser will have new tool bars and links that you did not add.
  • Your homepage suddenly changes.
  • You experience pop-ups.
  • You experience ads that are embedded into websites.
  • Your computer starts running slowly.

Sometimes, your computer will not show any symptoms, even if a virus or malware is running. To help protect yourself please run a form of antivirus suit and make sure it is kept up to date.
