BROADBAND WITHOUT A PHONE LINE
S&T Prioritizes Customer Choice with New Fiber-Based Internet Options
Brewster, KS (November 1, 2020) - S&T is pleased to announce a new option for standalone fiber-based Internet service for S&T Cooperative consumers and businesses in Northwest Kansas. The product will be available without a telephone line, and customers will be able to streamline their subscriptions to focus on increasingly critical Internet connections.
The ability to offer Internet service without an accompanying telephone line represents a landmark win for S&T thanks to a recent ruling from the Federal Trade Commission (FTC) granting permission to offer Consumer Broadband-Only Loops (CBOL) to the residents and businesses in the area.
"We’re thrilled to be able to add standalone Internet to the lineup of service options. Schools, homes and businesses alike will benefit from the change. It’s a big step forward,” said Matt Grogan, Chief Marketing Officer.
The recent FTC rule change allows rural telephone companies to unbundle Internet service from other telecommunication services, S&T’s fiber network the most powerful – and the most affordable – Internet option in the area. Super-fast and future-forward, fiber-based Internet is a more reliable and more robust Internet service.
“Fiber is faster, stronger, and more dependable than any other network type in use today. Fiber-based Internet gives S&T residents the speed and reliability needed to power smart-home and streaming devices, as well as the freedom to work or go to school from home without suffering through slow or unreliable connections. Fiber-based Internet also provides local businesses and healthcare facilities access to the cutting-edge technology needed to be more competitive and serve the community more effectively,“ said Matt Grogan.
